While much of the focus on sail material development has been on high tech laminates for grand prix racing boats, there has been a quiet revolution going on in woven materials. Resulting in an entire new range of fibers, and a new woven sail material producing, LIGHTER, STRONGER, Sails.

Doyle's QuickSilver II made from Woven Warp oriented Polyester addresses the problems performance cruising sailors have had to live with, LAMINATION = low durability, high replacement expense, mildew problems, loss of sail shape, etc.. Most Kevlar / Mylar r / Spectra sails become obsolete from loss of shape due to shrinkage, crinkling, and delamination of the Mylar.
