Ricardo
Vocaturo brings to Doyle Detroit over 20 years of sailmaking
experience beginning in 1982 as a member of the Hood Sailmakers
support and technical team for the Whitbread Around the World
Race. In 1984 he became the Loft Manager for Shore Sails South
America and then in 1987 went to work as a sail designer for the
Argentine O’Neil Windsurfer team. In 1991, Ricardo joined the UK
Sailmakers group in Buenos Aires. From there he spent a year with
UK Sailmakers Miami and is now with Doyle Detroit.
In addition to Ricardo’s
extensive sailmaking experience, he brings with him an impressive
sailing resume. He began his sailing career on Cadets, Penguins,
Snipes, Finns and Solings. From there, he went on to IOR boats.
Ricardo has sailed in Championships in Buenos Aries, Uruguay and
Brazil. He competed in the Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro race and
was a member of the Whirlpool Racing Team, two time Argentine
Championship winners in IMS. Ricardo is now beginning to log miles
on the Great Lakes. He has competed in the NOODS, Mackinac races
and the Bay Harbor Championships with the Great Lakes 70 class.
