ABOUT THE LOFT
Newport, Rhode Island is one of the primary hubs in American sailing - with a longstanding sailing history making it both a major destination and home port, with some of the most renowned sailing and motor yachts in the world.
Doyle Sails Newport operations are currently based out of the Newport Shipyard. Since 2020, the Doyle Newport team has grown - Alex Clegg, Rob MacMillan and Dave MacMillan now lead the team in being on of Doyle Sails' leading Superyacht and Grand Prix Hubs around the world.

Alex Clegg
Alex Clegg, who calls East Greenwich, Rhode Island home has a life-long association with sailing, working his way up from dinghy sailing as a child through to competing in the majority of Grand Prix regattas and Offshore races around the world. Alex brings more than ten years of experience with him to Doyle Sails Newport. As a member of both the New York Yacht Club, Storm Trysail Club and East Greenwich YC he is at the start line of all local and regional races regularly. Before joining Doyle Sails in 2020, Alex Clegg was previously a Sails Consultant for Quantum Sails.

Offshore Racing experience includes Middle Sea Race, Chicago Mackinac, Newport Bermuda Race, Marblehead to Halifax, Montego Bay Race, Caribbean 600, Miami Havana Race.
Dave MacMillan
Before joining Doyle Sails, Dave served as the New England Regional Manager for Quantum Sails and before that was the COO at Hood Sailmakers. His career started in academics as a teacher and a coach, before becoming the Program Director and President for Greenwich Bay Sailing Association. Alongside his coaching of sailing, Dave sails with a range of yachts at IRC, PHRF, One Design and Team Racing events. Dave notes that his success in sailing is largely related to the fact that he has had the opportunity to sail with and learn from some of the most respected and accomplished sailors on a local and international level.
Based in East Greenwich, Rhode Island Dave brings a wealth of local and regional knowledge to the Doyle Sails team.
Rob MacMillan
The addition of Rob MacMillan to the Doyle Sails team brings not only sailing knowledge and experience but also a passion for sustainability. Prior to joining Doyle Sails Rob was with Quantum Sails and also held the role of CEO of Hood Sailmakers.
Rob is also the Co-Founder and President of 11th Hour Racing – a foundation committed to making the marine industry more sustainable. 11thhourracing.org
