It's Time to Get Sailing!

I've owned this business for nearly half of my life. I spent much of this time working on just how to best serve our sailing community. Seeing how busy most people's lives are, I've come to the realization that what we need to be is the company that makes it easy for you to enjoy your boats. This is how "We Make it Easy For You to Enjoy Your Boat" came to be Doyle Long Island's company tag line.

In being what we need to be for you we have grown far beyond sailmaking. We've successfully grown into rigging, canvas and sailing for hire. We're selling as many Furlers, Mast Tracks, Mainsail Handling Systems, Halyards, Sheets, Biminis, Dodgers, Sail Covers... as we do sails these days. If you need a source for an item for your boat we either know where to steer you or can get it for you. If you aren't out there sailing we're just twiddling our thumbs. We're not too good at that.

Doyle Long Island One of the things that we can do to make sailing faster and more fun for you without breaking your bank is to recut your sails to shape them better. We recently brought on Steve Jackson, a 3 time America's Cup sailmaking veteran. "We recut sails after every race," he tells me. "We can do wonders with what most people have. I'm telling you, there isn't a boat out there that we can't make faster". It doesn't matter whether you're racing or cruising. You always want to get there faster and everyone would like to have their sails last longer. We have drop off locations all over Long Island and in Queens and Brooklyn. If you leave your sail at one of these locations or drop your sail off at the loft on a Monday we promise to have it ready for you to use on Friday.

Lia Ditton Prepares for The Barcellona World Race

Keeping up with the lovely Lia Ditton is a bit tough these days! With her vision of making an Open 60 create a digital orchestra of sound during the Barcelona World Race nearly complete, she's had a flurry of meetings with sound engineers, musicians, sailors, publicists and potential sponsors alike, in order to take the project to the next stage.

Watch for her public announcement about her intentions for The Barcelona World Race. You will be impressed with some of that the people she has involved!
