Star Class Win at 2008 Schoonmaker Cup
Jud Smith and Stuart DeLisser were the victors in the first Star regatta of the 2008-09 Miami winter racing season. Teaming up for the first time, Jud and Stuart bested the fleet of 15 in the Schoonmaker Cup held November 8th and 9th. The five race series was primarily sailed in under 6 knots on Saturday with the winds picking to 8 to 14 for the final two races on Sunday. Squeaking out a 1 point victory over Andy Macdonald and Brian Fatih, Jud was 1.5 points ahead of Henrik Dannesboe and Edward Morey. Dan Coughlin with crew Harri Palm, hoisted their Doyle sails for the first time and had a very good series including a 2nd and a 4th. Dan has recently returned to the excitement of the Star after a period sailing big boats.
