J/105 Allegro Semplicita Wins Class at PHRF New Englands
Powered by 2010 Doyle sails, Fred deNapoli and crew took class honors in the 2010 Hanse Yachts PHRF New England Championship held in Marblehead, MA. Sailed in light to moderate winds, Allegro Semplicita bested the competitive 21 boat J/105 fleet over the course of six races in three days.

The Allegro Semplicita team included tactician Nick Burke, bowperson Kim Barrows, mid-bowman Steve Gleason, Anthony Warren at the mast, and Patrick Andersen trimming the jib.
Allegro Semplicita used a full inventory of new 2010 Doyle sails, including a cross cut main, a class jib and a full radial spinnaker. Looking back on this summer’s successes, deNapoli offers, “A big thanks to Doyle Sailmakers for making some pretty slippery sails.” Over the course of this season, deNapoli finished second in the Marblehead NOOD and won the Boston Yacht Club’s Summer Series as well.

Utilizing innovative 3D modeling and rigorous testing, the Doyle Design Team is actively developing fast, smooth and durable J/105 sails for all conditions. To learn more about Doyle J/105 sails call 800-94-DOYLE or click here.
Doyle Sails Clean Sweep of Day Sailor Class at the PHRF NE Championship
Three different boats. One sailmaker. Doyle Sails get 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 2010 Hanse Yachts PHRF New England Championship Day class. Doyle optimized speed and durability for the sails – whether they were for the e33, Sabre Spirit, or the Alerion 382.

The regatta also demonstrated the superiority of the Doyle square-top mains, designed using our unique Virtual Wind Tunnel technology, helping capture 1st on the e33 Eclipse and 3rd on the Alerion 382 Vigor. The Virtual Wind Tunnel is a computational simulation environment that Doyle engineers use to create sails that are faster out of the bag, easier to trim, and maintain their designed shape through a greater wind range. By redistributing the square footage of the mains, the Doyle square tops sails maximize the area at the head, where the best breeze is often found in light air. The result is a sail that is powerful in light air and easy to manage as the breeze builds due to its high aspect-ratio.
The owner of Vigor, Craig Speck, was extremely excited with his results saying that his newly designed square-top main “has turned us into a very competitive program! We were only a 1/4 of a point out of second.” If you race an Alerion 38, the new square-top main is clearly the technology for speed.
Tom Drechsler, owner of Remain Silent, commenting about their very strong showing said, “We were very happy to come in 2nd and we are very pleased with the tight racing the Day Sailor class provided. Craig beat us in the second race on Saturday by 1 second! All other races were very close with the e33 and the Alerion.”
Doyle. Better engineered sails. Unparalleled customer service.
