Hosted by Etchells Fleet 20 in Miami, Florida, The Jaguar Series is the premiere winter event for the Etchells class in North America with racing taking place on Biscayne Bay. The Sid Doren Memorial, held January 8-9, 2011, is the second regatta of the four event 2011 Jaguar Series.
On Saturday, three races were held in 10-20 knot winds and 70 degree weather. Consistency in Sunday’s two lighter air races paid off for Jud Smith, Moose McClintock, and Jim Porter. Sailing Gary Jobson’s boat, Jud’s 1-2 finishes on Sunday were enough to shuffle Saturday’s leader board and result in the win of the 2011 Sid Doren Memorial. Doyle sails powered Scott Piper to 2nd place, Buddy Cribb to 3rd, Benjamin Kinney and Senet Bischoff to 6th, John Ulbrich and Scott Rice to 8th and Mike Dressell and Ernie Pomerleau to 9th.
