The final weekend of Larchmont Race Week may have been a bust for most with no wind on Sunday and one bizarre race on Saturday, but it worked out just fine for Paul Beaudin’s J/105 Team loulou. Beaudin sailed his throw out in Saturday’s race, when a 180 degree windshift turned the fleet topsy turvy. So loulou’s sixth place finish got bracketed, and Beaudin scored four bullets from the prior weekend. The tally not only gave him first in the J/105 class, but won the vote for Best Overall Performance at the 113th Larchmont Race Week.
Loulou uses a complete set of Doyle J/105 class racing sails. The Spinnaker, which has been very fast in running conditions, was even faster as a VMG. In the light conditions loulou was just faster, with speed to walk away from the fleet for big finishes. The Doyle J/105 spinnaker is proving to be perfect as the ‘do it all’ sail.
