J-27 TUNING GUIDE

1) Set the mast butt to 16.9’ from the transom to the aft face of the mast 3.17’ up from the floor. On most boats, this will be all the way forward.

2) Block the mast at the deck in the middle of the partners, 10.5’.

3) Swing your headstay aft and put a mark on the headstay at the top of the black band.

Light Air Setting 5’ 4 ½” from mark to pin

Medium Air Setting + 4 turns

Heavy Air Setting + 8 turns

4) Rig Tension

The change in headstay tension will naturally make the adjustment to the rig tension.
