Doyle Sails has 50 lofts and employs 560 people, all equally passionate about Doyle Sails and the services we deliver to our customers. We live and breathe our brand ethos to be Global Leaders and Local Experts.
Our employees are the core of our business. We strive to engage and empower our employees through extensive training – both on the job and through external training providers. Health and Safety issues are taken very seriously and our Health and Safety team provides ongoing support and training in this area for all team members.
After a disruptive year in 2020, our focus for 2021 is to involve all Doyle staff in ongoing team and culture building activities to ensure there are opportunities for development, and growing team relationships and communication. The 2021 America’s Cup in Auckland, New Zealand has given us the opportunity to share the on-water experience with our Auckland sail making team.
We are working towards promoting equality and diversity throughout our business and are looking to develop our team and business policies within the next 12 months to ensure equal opportunities for all are upheld at Doyle.
DOYLE SAILMAKING PROGRAMME
We believe change comes through education and mentorship. We strive to provide continuous education and development of our people, along with developing the future generation of sailmakers. We developed The Doyle Sailmaking Programme to create opportunities for the next generation of sailmakers, and ensure skills are kept in our local loft communities.
The Doyle Sailmaking Programme is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and advanced sailmaking curriculums in the world. With over 35 years of experience in training and developing world class sailmakers, we have developed over 500 sailmakers over the last 25 years.
Apprentices will have the chance to work alongside some of the most high-profile sailors and campaigns, and have the opportunity to apply for a paid internship at one of our Doyle Sails lofts around the world during the three year programme, keeping our communities employed, and empowered to become the next leaders.
The next generation also bring a special perspective on sustainability and business, and we will continue to listen and absorb from them on how we can evolve our journey.

At Doyle Sails we are focused on how we can be more responsible in our business practices and ensuring the rights of all the people involved in our products are upheld.
We select suppliers based on their dedication to the highest quality materials and workmanship, and who have strong policies and standards in social responsibility and environmental management.
Our materials are sourced globally from the US to France, and we are working to ensure our values are upheld through the supply chain.
We are working hard to knock down the opaque walls in our supply chain to ensure that every part of our sails journey is made responsibly.
We are currently working with our first tier of suppliers to ensure policies and standards are in place, locations and factories are identified, and certifications and social compliance audits are verified.
Our goal for 2025 is to identify and map our tier 2 and 3 suppliers, looking at where all raw materials are sourced and processed, to ensure we have full visibility of our supply chain.
