Congratulations to Earl and Kara Atwaters Beneteau 36.7 Program in their overall Win of the 2018 Verve Cup Regatta.
“This is just Unbelievable” said a jubilant Atwater at the awards presentation. Its been a long time coming, and we have been working hard over the past three years since we started racing. A Beneteau 36.7 has never won the regatta overall before so we are completely honored to be the first. It just shows you how tight the class is. All year the races have been really tight and it always goes down to the last race and this regatta was no different with the top 5 boats each separated by only 1 point!
Doyle Sails Chicago delivered a new Mainsail and AP #1 for the regatta which were just fantastic, and our down wind speed was superior.
In the J-111 Class who were preparing for their North American Championship which will be held in Holland Michigan in September, saw the Doyle Sails powered Rowdy take the top spot. Rowdy was consistently at the front of the fleet the entire weekend. Rowdy has been sailing really well this year placing in every regatta including the Colors, NOOD, Mac and now topping the Verve Cup.
In the J-109 Class Jim Murrays Callisto who uses a complete inventory of Doyle Sails continued her run for the season with a very solid performance winning the J-109 Class by 10 Points! This puts them over the top and the victory also with them the Season Championships in the J-109 Class.
In Second Place was Keith Eickenbergs Blackfin who also used all Doyle Sails including a new 2018 Class AP Jib. Callisto and Blackfin were very consistent in leading the class around the course.
In ORR 2 Joe Hummel and Beth Lore’s C&C-115 Archimedes III won the class. Archimedes uses a complete set of Doyle Up-wind sails. She was consistently out in front of the fleet.
In the J-105 Fleet Clark Pellets Doyle Powered Sealark finished third.
