2024 CAPE31 UK RACE CIRCUIT CHAMPIONS – KHUMBU RED

Khumbu Red showed their dominance all season, winning three of the six rounds of the UK Cape31 racing and almost always in contention for the gold. Finishing second in this weekend’s Round 6 secured them the season title!

A massive congratulations to the new owners Christian and Jacintha Hamilton-Love and crew, who came in this season and gave it their all, working closely with Doyle Sails Solent Peter Greenhalgh for their full Doyle inventory. A decision they are thrilled with, not only having the support and expertise of Peter onboard for racing and training they have been privy to the collaborative design and development Doyle Sails are well known and regarded for in these high-performance classes.
Sailing onboard for the event Khumba Red had Doyle Sails Solent Designer, Chris Taylor, who stepped into Australian sailor David Chapman’s shoes as tactician for the final regatta.

“Chris did a great job, sailing very conservatively to ensure we won the overall series and we very nearly won the last event which came down to the last few minutes of the final beat finishing 2nd overall in the final event” says Greenhalgh “We have a very happy team to win in the owners first season”

The final event was a weekend of quality racing in some fantastic sailing conditions bouncing off the upper and lower limits for these yachts, this is the second season which has seen Doyle-powered teams win in this hight competitive one design class.

Doyle Sails are supportive of the Cape31 Class as the only sailmaker onboard at a global partnership level, ensuring all owners experience the same level of support on and off the water, the same competitive pricing and level of design and development which this team have come to know.

Khumba Red go home with the Cape 31 class trophy commissioned by Lord Irvine Laidlaw.
