Meet Doyle Sails UK expert and sailor, Ben Saxton

Ben Saxton Olympic sailor with a wealth of experience across so many disciplines. To date, Ben’s expertise lies at the top end of One Design sailing, holding many European and World titles, and since coming on board with Doyle Sails, he has been able to pass some of this experience to UK sailors across the board.

Joining the Doyle Sails UK team was an opportunity too good to refuse. Ben comments “where Doyle is right now around the world is inspiring, their projects and technology puts them ahead of everyone else, and I am excited about working with them’’.

Ben has spent most of his time in the 470 and Nacra 17 Olympic classes, along with many years in most sports boats, with experience also onboard Swan’s, Commodores Cup Campaigns and Farr 45’s. Ben continues, “to put it simply I love all boats and all types of sailing, so I am excited to get involved with everything from large offshore campaigns to J70’s and Etchells and everything racing and cruising in-between”.

Career highlights for 30 year old Ben would include going to the 2016 Olympics in the Multihull for Team Great Britain in Rio, or winning the Foiling Nacra in 2017 World Championships, along with winning n the Nacra Europeans twice and a second at the European 470 Championships.

Other accolades include Y&Y Racing performance sailor of the year, Royal Thames Yacht Club Sailor of the year, shortlist Y&Y sailor of the year. Ben has graduated with a BSC Business Management at the University of Southampton, and more recently been studying Real Estate Economics and Finance.
