Having joined Doyle Sails in late 2023, Will Hundahl brings a unique blend of hands on engineering expertise and on-the-water experience to the Doyle Sails Salem loft. Now just over two years into his sailmaking career, Hundahl’s path into the industry has been shaped by a strong technical foundation and a clear passion for sailing performance.
Before transitioning into sailmaking, Hundahl spent four years working with an autonomous boat startup, where he was deeply involved in both engineering and build processes.
After contributing to the development of the first eleven boats in production, he made the decision to shift his focus toward sailmaking, bringing with him design capabilities and a problem-solving mindset.

At Doyle Sails Salem, Will has developed his role across both design and sales, and creating better understanding of the craftmanship of sailmaking; immersing himself in the sailmaking process on the loft floor and regular collaboration with Robbie Doyle, he has built a detailed understanding of how design translates into finished product and on-water performance.
A key strength Hundahl brings is his experience in 3D modelling, which has proven highly valuable in accurately modelling rigs and refining sail design. This technical skillset, combined with hands-on sailmaking knowledge, allows him to approach projects with both precision and practicality.
On the water, Hundahl continues to stay actively involved across a range of campaigns. His current focus leans toward offshore racing and distance events, recently completing onboard a Class 40 in the Caribbean 600 where his team secured third place in class. A project which Will has been working alongside Richard Bouzaid, as they work towards the Newport Bermuda Race in June.
The Dragon Ocean Racing Team will showcase a new Doyle Sails Stratis J1 and Mainsail and Structured Luff Downwind design A2.
Closer to home, he campaigns his own Nelson/Marek 30 Stag Racing and is looking to spend more time racing in the Etchells fleet, with some additional Star class sailing also on the schedule.
