Product range

Doyle Sails developed our proprietary membrane STRATIS in 2001, when the industry needed lighter, longer lasting sails: durable racing sails, superyacht sails engineered for the loads generated, and cruising sails that are easier to handle.

STRATIS is built at our 11,000 sqm New Zealand facility, on two production tables with multiple fibre laying machines and laminators, covering everything from dinghies to the largest Superyachts.

The process

Every STRATIS sail uses a combination of surfaces and fibres chosen for the requirements of that individual sail. Nothing is specified from a standard pattern.

Compared to alternative membranes, STRATIS leads on performance, construction, weight and durability.

Thirty years of membrane, one process.

What STRATIS is

Rather than cutting shapes from finished cloth, we lay continuous load-bearing fibres along the paths your sail will actually carry, then build the sail as one piece. It holds its designed shape for longer, weighs less for the same strength, and lasts through more seasons than a panelled equivalent.

Two builds

STRATIS 1100 is the racing member, for Performance Race and Grand Prix programmes, finished with ULX Taffeta or GPX Film. STRATIS 1200 is the cruising member, for Performance Cruise and Superyacht work, finished with GPC Taffeta. Both are available as a membrane only or a finished sail.

Every STRATIS sail is built in one place.

The STRATIS plant sits inside the Doyle Sails New Zealand facility in Auckland, where the membrane is laid, laminated, finished and inspected under one roof. Nothing is outsourced, so what our designers specify is what leaves the floor.
