ABOUT THIS LOFT
Doyle Sails Tasmania was originally established in 1964 as “Peter Johnston’s Sailmakers” by Peter Johnston in Sullivan’s Cove. The company quickly developed a reputation for quality, service and building strong relations with the marine industry in Tasmania. The company is now owned and operated by Nick Dineen and Brian Moroney, after working for the Johnston family as managers for many years.

After many successful years trading as Peter Johnston Sailmakers the loft joined Fraser Sails which eventually transitioned to the worldwide Doyle group. Doyle Sails Tasmania has always been committed to building the highest quality sails (in house) using the latest technology and materials available. Partnering with the Doyle group enables Doyle Tasmania to work with the best lofts, sail designers and membrane manufacturers in the industry. We have developed a close working relationship with Doyle group which ensures Tasmanian customers of the highest of quality of sail design and membranes, whilst still building the sails here in Tasmania.

FACILITIES
Our loft is a full manufacturing facility ideally located in the iconic “Muirs Boatyard”, on the water front between the Sydney to Hobart finish line and two of Tasmania’s largest yacht clubs. Doyle Tasmania on site services include, sailmaking, marine cover, rigging, shade sails and chandlery. We are arguably the largest sailmaking operation in Tasmania and our staff include qualified sailmakers with up to 45 years’ experience. We have a strong commitment to training new apprentices, ensuring the future of our company and sailmaking in Tasmania.

Over the decades Doyle Tasmania's clients have had success in everything from one design national titles, club pennants, offshore races, local and global passage making. Doyle Tasmania looks forward to building relationships with new and existing clients and helping sailors of all forms to achieve their goals.
