CODE SAILS
A cruising Code Sail can often be the missing link between a genoa and a gennaker for cruising yachts. ASYMMETRIC
An asymmetrical spinnaker is a sail used when sailing downwind, it can be described as a cross between a genoa and a spinnaker. It is asymmetric like a genoa, but, the asymmetrical spinnaker is not attached to the forestay over the full length of its luff, being rigged like a spinnaker. The asymmetrical spinnaker has a larger camber than a genoa, making it optimal for generating lift but the camber is significantly less than that of a spinnaker.
SYMMETRIC
A spinnaker is a sail designed specifically for sailing off the wind from a reaching course to a downwind, i.e. with the wind 90–180° off bow. The spinnaker fills with wind and balloons out in front of the boat when it is deployed, called flying. It is constructed of lightweight fabric, usually nylon, and is often brightly colored . It may be optimised for a particular range of wind angles, as either a reaching or a running spinnaker, by the shaping of the panels and seams.
TOP DOWN NYLON FURLING A3
The newest addition to the Doyle Sails range of easy to use, reliable downwind furling sails is here. The ideal sail for cruising and racing, with even more benefits for shorthanded sailing. Designed as an A3 that furls top down, this sail utilises the ‘Spanish Windlass’ technique – delivering a nylon sail that is cost effective, easy to use and reliable.
SPANISH WINDLASS | The Spanish Windlass technique is used to shorten the cable prior to the sail being furled. This means that the cable is tight for the furl, but loose enough for the sail to continue to project when unfurled.
MATERIAL | This sail is built out of high quality nylon for furling reliability.
FURLING RELIABILITY | Furling reliability is key to all cruisers and racers and one of the most important factors considered when a sail is designed by Doyle Sails - ultimately this comes down to the shape of the sail and the clew height when designed.
Previously, conventional furling sails similar to this have an external cable that runs from the tack to the head - at Doyle Sails this cable is built internally into the sail and housed with a luff pocket. With this seemingly small change in design, the results are dramatic. Furling reliability increases considerably reducing the chances of the sail counter-winding on itself, coupled with the Spanish Windlass system.

StackPack is a mainsail handling system comprised of a fully battened mainsail with integral lazy jacks and a cover that opens automatically to accept the sail as it is lowered.
