Club Swan WINNERS in Tuscany, powered by Doyle Sails

The Swan Tuscany Challenge was a success for Doyle-powered teams in both ClubSwan 36 and ClubSwan50 fleets.  Doyle Sails is a major partner of the Club Swan racing fleet and has been at the forefront of design and innovation in the sailmaking industry for over 40 years, most recently with the revolutionary Structured Luff Technology utilised by both winning teams.

The event which took place in the beautiful coastal town of Scarlino, and saw sailors from all over the world come together with the stunning backdrop and perfect sailing conditions made for an unforgettable experience for all involved, the weekend saw a vast range of conditions with Saturday’s racing initially postponed due to a front, the fleets started in light airs before a strong Mistral filled in bringing with it over 30knots of breeze.

It was Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio’s G-Spot Sailing Team who made the most of day three, climbing from seventh to first equal on 10 points, which was enough to claim a win in the first event. G-Spot’s remarkable ascent in the ClubSwan 36 class is the highlight. Stellar performance and strategy are on display by this Doyle-powered team.  In second place overall was a second Doyle-powered team Black Battalion finishing on equal points with G-spot.

In the Club Swan 50 class, Ross Warburton’s Perhonen climbed to the top spot and through the weekend of various conditions maintained their position.

The Doyle-powered team with sail designer Daniel Fong of Doyle Sails New Zealand sailing onboard was thrilled with their initial hit out for the season. “A result like this one started mid last year with some new team members and the addition of our Doyle sail inventory.  By winning a race at the World Championships last year, gave us the confidence that we are sailing well as a team and the boat is going nicely.” Says Fong “We had a great build up to this regatta, a great way to start the season, this is Ross’s first regatta win.”

Doyle Sails has worked closely with all of their teams producing high-quality, custom-made sails that were designed to perform in the variable conditions this event saw, with the Structured Luff technology coming into its own. The load-sharing design allows sails to be adjusted through a wider range of conditions, super important for teams when only small numbers of sails can be measured per season.

Doyle Sails expert Victor Marino was on the ground to provide support to all Doyle customers for the Scarlino event and we are thrilled that he will also be available to support all Doyle customers for the remainder of the season with both on and off-the-water support available, if you are interested in utilising this service please reach out directly to Victor.
