Shorthanded Sailing Association of New Zealand first race was a great day for Doyle customers, with 150 boats on the start line for Saturdays race. A 60 mile race past TiriTiri Matangi Island, turning around Motuora Island, passing The Haystack to starboard and home. Beautiful conditions, light breezes filling in about Tiri, and just enough to hold out for the finish.
The Local Doyle sales expert Guy Pilkington had a great race on board his Stewart 34, Playbuoy finishing with a convincing lead on the fleet in PIC Division 1, resulting in the double line and handicap win.
“The panelled Cableless code zero was a weapon, and really came into its own from Tiri to the Haystack which put us in first place, and a great call by my bowman Dwayne to change to the number two which put 6 minutes on the rest of the fleet to the finish.”
The Pied Piper fleet saw Doyle customers take 1st – Yosemite Sam, 2nd – Wasabi and 3rd – Motamouse on line. And second and third on handicap results too.
