What does performance mean to you?

Performance will mean something slightly different to sailors worldwide – the ocean connects us as sailors, but often the reasons we are on the water differ. With more than 500 Doyle Sails experts worldwide devoted to helping find what performance means to you, it ensures that you get nothing but the best from your sailing experience.

The Grand Prix racing scene is alive with race yachts who focus solely on sitting at the top of the podium and being the first to cross the finish line, whether sailing short or long distances, finding the fastest way around the podium course is crucial. With Doyle Sails, Grand Prix sails are designed to be fast, right out of the bag, designed solely to walk the fine line between high speed and durability, an art form Doyle Sails has mastered. With the inclusion of the most innovative technology on the market, performance with Doyle Sails to a Grand Prix yacht is at the forefront. Hear from Mitch Booth – Australian Olympic, America’s Cup, Grand Prix, and Superyacht sailor, on what he believes sets Doyle Sails above the rest.

For those looking to venture further afield than their own local waters, Doyle Sails has a range of sails that offer the ultimate in offshore Performance Cruising. With less emphasis put on speed, typically, Performance Cruise yachts look for added durability and ease of handling as they cruise the waters of the world. All Doyle Cruising sails are fully customized with exceptional handwork, chafe protection and construction details needed to provide thousands of miles of ocean sailing.

For our cruising customer, performance could be manifested in the way of durability and ease of use – after all, sailors are there to enjoy the journey. Time is spent designing sails that ensure ease of use and longevity – the Doyle Sails designers listen to each sailors requirements and design for just that. Doyle Sails are the experts in designing complete inventories. Often for Cruising sailors, performance can also mean utilizing a limited number of sails across a wide range of wind angles and strengths. Often sailing short-handed or with friends and family, sails must be designed for that specific purpose. Downwind sails tend to spend a lot of time in the air aboard cruising yachts – primarily because sailors who are there to enjoy the journey spend a large portion of their time either reaching or running for comfort, if possible. The addition of the Doyle Cableless sails in 2017 introduced a new era to cruising sails.

With success seen across the board with STRATIS Cableless sails over the last few years in both the racing and cruising markets, it was essential to Doyle Sails to offer the benefits of this same technology to sailors looking for a more cost-effective option to cruising yachts as well. Cruising Cableless Sails are available in Doyle Sails range of high-performance Cruise Laminate cloth options to suit your sailing requirements before being paired with the 100% STRATIS Luff Band and fitted to your yacht. The custom panel layout helps to emulate what we see with a STRATIS Cableless sail with specifically designed yarn layouts. The STRATIS Luff Band attached to the leading edge houses the all-important load sharing technology to carry the load from the tack to the head, dispersing this load back through the sail panels.

Using this technique, we can ensure reliable furling and allow the luff to ”fly” while delivering a lighter, more affordable Code sail than is typically available. Our Doyle Sails experts will work through the options around Cruise Laminate cloth options, furling and hardware required to ensure you take all of the gains available with Cableless technology.

Doyle Sails will be working with Riley and Elayna from Sailing La Vagabonde, who are in the process of building their new boat, “La Vaga III”, which will be launching later in 2021. La Vaga III will showcase a complete Doyle Sails inventory, sporting all of the latest technology and innovation and incorporating Structured Luff and Cableless technology. Performance to Riley and Elayna means delivering lighter, faster, and more durable sails than anything else on the market and helping other sailors achieve the same perfection.
