Doyle powered yachts all secure podium spots in 51st Transpac Race

The 51st edition of the Transpac race provided champagne sailing conditions to the majority of the fleet with a near-perfect breeze for the 2225 nautical mile downwind ride from Los Angeles to Honolulu.

With the first yacht crossing the Diamond Head finish line in the early hours of the 23rd July, the primary wave of competitors all finished throughout the 24th July, including Chris Sheehan’s Pac 52 Warrior Won, who was the second yacht to cross the finish line at 2:18 am local time. Warrior Won is currently sitting in first place overall, which will be declared when all yachts finish the race and also secured the Merlin Trophy for being the first monohull to finish the race with all manual powered systems.

Doyle powered Warrior Won finished 11 hours ahead of fellow Doyle powered yacht RP51 Vitesse, owned by Thomas Furlong, who worked tirelessly to secure 2nd place in Division Three and 2nd overall.

Kate and Jim Murray’s Pac 52, Callisto, secured third place in Division Three and 5th overall, finishing in the early hours of the 24th July against a picture-perfect Waikiki Beach backdrop. Bryon Ehrhardt’s Judel/Vrolijk 72 Lucky unfortunately retired with 30 miles to go, with a broken rudder, relinquishing their Division One lead on corrected time.

Doyle Division results:       Division Three:

1st – Warrior Won

2nd – Vitesse

3rd – Callisto

Doyle Overall results, to be confirmed:

1st – Warrior Won
