Doyle success at RPAYC Annual Pittwater Regatta

Doyle Sydney customers see success on and off the water at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club’s annual Pittwater Regatta 2024

“Our customers and staff had the best weekend on the water, racing in the Pittwater Regatta” says a very chuffed Shane Guanaria of Doyle Sails Sydney “Our apprentice Garth provided fantastic overnight sail service to several competitors not just for our clients along, with sailing in the event”

On the water the mix of conditions and races throughout the event gave everyone a chance to shine, ultimately it was “Revolver” Michael Ritchie’s – Ritchie 38, who took the inaugural Super 40 Division 1 victory, along with overall ORCi division 1 title  proving her strength across the conditions in the division with more than dozen entries.

“Revolver is incredibly special to me. My father, Bruce Ritchie designed her and Sean Langman and his son Pete built her in plywood wrapped in carbon – an incredibly light, stiff strong boat.” Says Ritchie  “She is a day sailor in concept,  we run lazy jacks, a pin head main BUT she is fast in an MC 38, Farr 400 kind of way.   We went over to Doyle about 5 years ago and have not looked back.  Running Doyle Stratis structured luff jibs, the boat now is now properly performing in both light and heavier air  – Having the Pittwater Regatta  result on the weekend, where we had 25 knots on day 1 and 5-8 knots on day 2, is pretty much testimony to that!”

“We are thrilled to be able to support all our customers off and on the water” said Shane “with the calibre of sailors and racing machines going from strength to strength in our local area, its fantastic to be part of the movement”. The Royal Prince Alfred yacht Club and their volunteers are doing a fantastic job with the event and it is great watching it grow every year”.
