V070 ‘Trifork’ owned by Jørn Larsen, sets the bar high for the ‘La Larga’ – the new offshore race that forms part of the Palma Vela regatta. The Trifork team completed the race in 21 hours and 45 minutes.
Larsen and his crew dominated their main rival in the IRC class, the Pelotari Project, who finished five hours behind Trifork after the wind dropped with a tactical minefield eventuating between Cabrera and Cabo Blanco. The crew pushed hard with Jens Dolmer, Trifork Captain, explaining that significant advantages could be seen if we made the best of the first leg and avoided the calmer winds at the entrance of the Bay of Palma at Cape Blanco.
Trifork also holds the current record for sailing around Mallorca, many considering it a difficult record to beat with a time of 13 hours and 15 minutes.
Joining the crew for the inaugural Palma Vela event was Doyle Sails Palma’s Managing Director Chris Sherlock who oversees the sail programme alongside fellow Doyle Sails Palma director Luke Molloy.
