EASE OF CARE
Polyester has been the most commonly used sail fibre for decades, because of the strong, durable and relatively inexpensive yarns. Over the years suppliers have introduced premium polyester yarns which are well suited to some sail applications. Premium polyester yarns deliberately feature very high shrinkage, combined with tightly woven sailcloth which is stable without having to rely on adding in excess material for stability.
WEIGHT
The unique fibre yarn and taffeta lamination process controls the amount of adhesive in every sail, ultimately making stronger and lighter sails. The weight of STRATIS 500 sails is well below equivalent sails made from Dacron or panelled equivalents.
MOULD RESISTANCE
Resistance to mould is more important to sailors than ever before and all STRATIS 500 sails are tested extensively in our on site humidity chamber where mould growth is monitored both internally and externally on the taffeta.
UV RESISTANCE
STRATIS 500 sails show exceptional UV resistance with a very high UV factor on all STRATIS taffetas with a unique UV factor included in the adhesive as well as having an additional UV resistant coating.
